Richard Childress Racing has signed Austin Hill for 2027

Since the tragic passing of Kyle Busch, Austin Hill has been the driver of the No. 33 in the NASCAR Cup Series. Busch formerly drove the car with the No. 8.

Before taking over that seat, Hill raced full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series. He received a promotion from Richard Childress Racing to drive the No. 33. He also still pilot’s the O’Reilly Series ride for the remainder of 2026.

As of today, Hill will be back in the No. 33 for the 2027 season.

The 32-year-old has collected 16 race wins in the NASCAR O’Reilly Series over 169 career starts. His bast finish in the NASCAR Cup Series was a 14th place run at Daytona International Speedway in 2023 while racing for Beard Motorsports.

Hill will not be eligible for Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Cup Series for 2027 as he begins his first full-time season.

Austin Hill comments

“I’m extremely thankful to Richard and everyone at RCR for believing in me and giving me this opportunity,” Austin Hill stated via the team release.

“Every race car driver dreams of competing full time in the NASCAR Cup Series, and to have that opportunity with RCR is something I don’t take for granted. I’ve learned so much this year about what it takes to compete at this level, and I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned during my time at RCR and apply it to this next chapter.”

Hill concluded, “I want to do everything I can to help this organization continue moving forward. I’m excited for what’s ahead and ready to get to work.”
