North Wilkesboro starting grid for the NASCAR All-Star Race; Heat race results
Tonight, two heat races are on deck for the NASCAR Cup Series. The results from both races will be used to set the North Wilkesboro starting grid for Sunday’s race.

Drivers in the heat races have already qualified for the NASCAR All-Star Race. Heat 1 sets the inside row while heat 2 sets the outside row.
There’s rain in the area and the track is damp. Just ahead of heat one, NASCAR has called for teams to install the wet weather tires.

Laps: 60
Daniel Suarez and Chase Elliott set the front row. The wet tires are installed.
Green flag, Suarez is clear into turn one. Elliott powers back to his right rear off turn two. They fight for space off turn four. Elliott to the lead as they return to turn one.
Lap 22, Suarez has climbed back to the bumper of Elliott in the battle for the lead.
Lap 27, Suarez leans on the rear bumper of Elliott. He chases it up the banking, Suarez drives under him to take the lead.
Lap 33, NASCAR has thrown the caution, requiring teams to change all four rain tires to a new set.
Green, Suarez clears Elliott off turn two. Elliott is stuck on the outside lane and he drops to 6th.
10 to go, Suarez leads Logano by 0.6 seconds.
6 t go, Briscoe leans on the bumper of Logano for 2nd. He can’t get by.

Chris Buescher and Austin Dillon set the front row. Slick tires are back on the cars and 60 more laps of heat racing are up next…
Green flag, Buescher is clear into turn one. The field forms single file in a hurry.
Lap 8, Larson leans on the rear bumper of Chastain for 4th but he can’t complete the pass.
Lap 24, caution for light rain. Teams head to the pit lane for wet weather tires.
Green, Bueschedr is clear into turn one. Byron takes 2nd away.
20 to go, Larson leans in the rear bumper of Dillon for 3rd, he can’t complete the pass.
18 to go, Bubba Wallace puts the bumper to Kyle Larson. Larson is up the track, Wallace takes the spot. Larson brushes the wall off the corner and he falls to 7th.
7 to go, Austin Dillon works inside of Byron for 2nd. Keselowski puts the bumper to Wallace for 4th.
5 to go, Buescher leads Dillon by 1.2 seconds.
