Martin Truex Jr talks about the championship battle

Meanwhile at the top of the leaderboard…
Martin Truex Jr made a rare runner-up appearance this weekend at Martinsville Speedway. He did it at his worst track, in the round of 8.
“There’s a lot of things I could have done differently,” Martin Truex Jr states from the pass room after finishing 2nd to Kyle Busch at Martinsville Speedway.
“Ultimately, what I did — came home 2nd. I had a tough battle with Clint, side by side, comin’ to the white. I was lucky enough to clear him and ultimately have a shot at the lead because of the #18 and the #11 getting together.”
“So, had I not cleared Clint, I wouldn’t of even had a chance. I don’t know that I would have done anything differently.”
I wasn’t just going to go in there and run into him. That’s just not the way I do it.

“The hole opened up. I drove inside of Kyle. I wasn’t just going to go in there and run into him. That’s just not the way I do it.”
We’ll let everybody else fight and we’ll try to do our thing.

“I think we can get to Homestead without making too many enemies. We’ll let everybody else fight and we’ll try to do our thing.”
