Dirt Track Marketing: Full Capacity Expected on Free Admission Night

Free attendance night offered by Florence Speedway

Marketing 101: Attract people to your racetrack and they will likely come back again.

Well, Florence Speedway is now adapting a bold marketing strategy to achieve that very goal. This coming weekend the track will open the grandstand gates, handing out tickets and stamps for free. Not just to the kids, but to everyone!

The speedway details the event, “If you’ve never been to Florence Speedway, or just haven’t been in a while, come check us out May 13th for a FREE Night in the Dirt. The free dirt track admission night is this Saturday, May 13th, 2017 at Florence Speedway. It’s FREE General Admission for all! Brought to you by NEON Energy Drink, Slicker Graphics, and Smokin This and That BBQ.”

So where did this idea come from? Florence Speedway comments, “We had seen other tracks try this type of event over the years, but had some hesitation to try it ourselves. Then in the offseason we did the numbers to see what it would take to pull this off. We floated the idea to a few of our sponsors and they jumped on board. Without them, this would not be possible.”

Florence Speedway explained,”Even with the sponsorship help, we expect to take a loss on the event, but we are counting it as a marketing expense. We feel we will get more exposure and people through the gates than if we just spent the money advertising. Hopefully those who come for the first time will enjoy it and come back. Even if we can convert a small percentage of them to regular customers, it will make the event worthwhile.”

The speedway just hosted one of it’s biggest races of the year. This past weekend, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series invaded the 1/2 mile semi-banked oval. The race featured all 3 championship contenders battling at the front of the field for the win. It was a thrilling night of racing for the crowd. Now, fresh off the LOLMDS event, the track is adapting this bold marketing strategy.

Florence Speedway officials are expecting the grandstands at full capacity. That’s around 7,000 for the free dirt track attendance night. So full, that coolers aren’t allowed, to make room for more fans. Or more likely, to get you to visit the concession stand. Though, to be honest, you’ve been given a free ticket, the least you can do is buy a burger. If you refuse, you can always eat at home before hand.

More upcoming headline events include; Jun 24 Southern Nationals Series, Aug 11-12 35th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 presented by Lucas Oil and Oct 28 Fall 50.

Want to get the next generation involved in dirt track racing? Well, they are full of interesting ideas at Florence Speedway. They know just how to get the younger fans involved. “Grad Night” is another event on the schedule that features free admission, this time for all students (K-12). The grad night is a marketing investment in the tracks future. The track also has several “Dollar Days” nights on the schedule. Those events feature $1 Drinks, $1 Food Items and $1 Beer at the concession stand.

Florence Speedway is a half-mile, clay oval. The dirt track is located in Union, Kentucky.
