Ryan Newman: “I don’t know that there’s a desire to have a different product at this type of race track.”
Following yesterday’s race, Ryan Newman was asked how they could change restrictor plate racing. Can it be better? First he discussed the final laps…
“Yeah, that was about the only time I did race. Was the final few [laps] there,” Ryan Newman discusses the closing laps at Talladega Super Speedway.

“I kept my foot in it and did what I thought was right. I basically got double teamed by the #2 and the #22. It kinda reminded me of the old tandem days of draftin’.”
“Not a good end result but a good performance. We needed that after my screw up last weekend.”
Making plate racing better?
Yesterday’s race at Talladega Superspeedway was a bit of a mess. 3 red flags resulted in 14 cars finishing the race. Ryan Newman, finished 2nd, he was asked how NASCAR could make plate racing better?
“I don’t know how to answer that,” Ryan Newman opens the conversation.
“What do you call a batter race first of all?”
“It is what it is. I don’t think it’s anything out of the ordinary or a big surprise for this type of racing. It’s totally different than what we had last week and what we’ll have next week.”
