Justin Bonnett is out of the ICU following Snowball Derby crash; More surgeries today

Medical update on Justin Bonnett; GoFundMe page setup for injured racer

On December 7, Justin Bonnett was involved in a fiery crash at 5 Flags Speedway. It happened in the Snowflake 100 during the Snowball Derby weekend.

The incident happened on lap 54 of the 100-lap event. Jarrett Parker spun and Bonnett was unable to avoid contact.

The impact burst the fuel cell on Parker’s machine. That resulted in a large fire. Bonnett’s car rolled to the infield where he was pulled from the machine by the safety crew.

Justin has been in the hospital ever since. He’s underwent several surgeries and more are scheduled for today. However, he is now out of the ICU.

Bonnett is the grandson of Motorsports Hall of Famer Neil Bonnett.
