The Money Team to make Daytona 500 debut?

The new NASCAR team attached to Floyd Mayweather has secured a driver and car

The Money Team Racing has been looking to join the sport since 2018. In 2019, the team website surfaced, showing them entering the championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

In 2020, their LinkedIn page was updated several times noting they were looking for sponsors. Many of those posts highlighted NASCAR tv ratings as they were seeking a partner.

They also issued a statement when NASCAR made the decision to ban the Confederate flag. However, until recently, the last page update was 9 months ago.

Despite the interest, the team never made it to the grid.

Now, the likelihood of them pushing to the grid is higher than ever. The NASCAR Net Gen car is a spec chassis. Teams are no longer developing cars from scratch.

The new rules level the playing field. It also makes it significantly cheaper for a new team to enter the sport.

According to the Sports Business Journal, The Money Team has secured a Next Gen car, as well as a sponsor for the race. Additionally, driver Kaz Grala is attached to the rumors.

Grala has retweeted posts relating to the team.

The now 23-year-old entered his first NASCAR Cup Series race in 2020, finishing 7th at Daytona for Richard Childress Racing. In 2021, he made three Cup starts with Kaulig Racing, earning a best finish of 6th at Kansas Speedway.

TMT is attached to boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. The boxers earnings are estimated around $1B in the last decade alone.
