NASCAR fan turns $13 bet into nearly $1m after Daytona race

Fan turns $13.49 bet into $999,433.63 payout

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series raced in Daytona Beach, Florida. The race on the 2.5-mile oval of Daytona International Speedway was the regular-season finale.

One fan put a lot less on the line with the possibility of a big pay day. He laid down a bet of $13.49.

The bet was that four drivers on underfunded teams would finish inside the top 10. The parlay bet was on Cody Ware at +2000, B.J. McLeod at +2000, Landon Cassill at +1500 and David Ragan at +950. The combined parley was +7408700.

If any of those drivers finished outside the top 10, the entire bet would be a flop.

A flash rain storm created a situation where most of the leaders were taken out due to a wet racing surface. Yet, the clouds parted and opened the door for many of the underfunded teams to have a great day.

Austin Dillon drove to victory lane. Cassill (4th), Ware (6th), McLeod (7th) and Ragan (9th) all finished in the top 10.

The fan turned a bet of $13.49 bet into $999,433.63.

Apparently, the bet was placed after hearing information from members of the Stacking Pennies podcast. He took that advice and laid down a free bet.

The fan wrote to podcaster Nick Giffen with a screenshot of the winning bet, “When Jordan says Cassill always finished and Rotodoc says Ware and McLeod are correlated. Thank you guys so much. Long long time listener and appreciate it so much. Life changing!”

The Fan Duel Sportsbook also commented, “This bettor took $13 and a dream and came out with one of the biggest wins I’ve ever seen. Our finance department is in shambles.”
