Race Report
Green flag, Herta gets the jump and he’s clear into turn one. Kyle Kirkwood spins behind him in turn one. The caution is out as the safety team re-fires Kirkwood.
Green, Herta leads Palou up the hill.
Penalty: Pato O’Ward is forced to give up two positions for a start violation.
Lap 9, Felix Rosenqvist is off track with some help from Rinus VeeKay, no caution.
Lap 12, Romain Grosjean is off track in turn three after he clipped the grass under braking. The car is stalled in the sand, caution.
Herta and others head for the pit lane. Moments later, the caution is out. Herta cycles right back to the lead.
Green, Jack Harvey is off in the grass, right at the restart, caution.
Green, Herta leads Palou and Newgarden.
Lap 23, Newgarden has a run on Palou into turn 6. He pulls inside, they bang wheels and fight for space, Newgarden to 2nd!

Lap 25, David Malukas is stalled, caution.
Herta and others head for the pit lane. A few stay out. Marcus Armstrong takes over the lead.
Green, Armstrong leads Will Power into turn one. Palou has worked around Herta for 3rd.
Lap 30, Herta looks inside of Palou, Herta to 3rd.
Lap 32, Armstrong pits under green from the lead. Two laps later, Power pits from the lead. Colton Herta cycles back to the front.
15 to go, Colton Herta pits from the lead, this is a lap early. Most of the leader pit on the next lap.
9 to go, Power pits from the lead. Herta cycles back to the front of the field as Palou trails by 0.5 seconds.
7 to go, Palou has a run on Herta at the flagstand. He looks inside, Herta blocks and Palou cuts back to the outside to complete the pass into turn one, Palou leads.
6 to go, Newgarden to 2nd. Herta is falling through the field as he’s saving fuel after pitting a lap earlier than anyone else.
