Paul Tracy has been suspended by the SRX Series

SRX issues first driver suspension since the inception of the mini-series

On Thursday, the SRX Series visited Motor Mile Speedway at Pulaski County Motorsports Park. The race saw drama between two racing veterans.

Paul Tracy was racing side by side with fellow INDYCAR driver Josef Newgarden with 11 laps to go in the 100 lap main event. As they exited turn four, Tracy forced Newgarden wide and into the wall.

Tracy spuns himself of the side of Newgarden, in front of the field. NASCAR legend Ken Schrader came into the scene with nowhere to go and slammed into the side of Tracy.

Both Tracy and Schrader were sent down the track and made contact with the inside wall. Each car needed a wrecker to return to the pit lane.

After the crash, Schrader walked over to Tracy’s machine. Schrader unhooked the window net on Tracy’s car and stuck his head in the driver’s window to have a very brief conversation.

Tracy and Schrader were involved in an incident in the first race of the season as well. In that case, Schrader felt that Tracy ran over him.

Schrader told ESPN after the crash at Motor Mile Speedway, “I’m not running another race with him. I’m done.”

It turns out he wont have to. On Friday, Paul Tracy was suspended by the SRX Series. It marks the first suspension issued by the series since it’s debut in 2021.

Tracy had a different view of the accident, from everyone else.

Tracy explained, “I got a nose ahead of him, a half car length ahead of him and I just got hooked. Turned sideways down the straight away.”
