Multiple NASCAR teams have been penalized following the race weekend
The No. 98 ThorSport Racing machine has been handed an L2 penalty. The penalty comes after a violation discovered in pre-race inspection at the Milwaukee Mile.
Violation: 14.16.1 and 14.16.1.A&C
Playoff Ty Majeski was already penalized during the race. He was forced to start at the back of the field and serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the race.
Now, in addition, the team has been docked 75 driver points, 75 owner points and 5 playoff points.
Crew chief Joe Shear Jr has been fined $25,000 and he’ll set out the next four races with a suspension.
NASCAR confiscated the right rear tire of the No. 98 truck ahead of the race. Crew chief Shear was also ejected ahead of the race at the Milwaukee Mile.
NASCAR commented on the violation:
“There’s a couple of things that you just don’t mess with,” Elton Sawyer stated via Sirius XM NASCAR Radio on Tuesday. “When it comes to engines, fuel and tires. Those are areas that are off limits.”
