Joey Logano says NASCAR fans “are spoiled”

Joey Logano notes the access fans have to the stars in comparison to other sports

You walk into an NFL stadium to watch a game. But, with your ticket purchase you have no expectation to meet a single football player on the field.

With NASCAR, those expectations are very different. Specifically with those that purchase access to the pit area.

But, it’s far beyond that. NASCAR drivers make themselves available to the regular ticket holder as well via souvenir signing events and beyond.

NASCAR drivers are more accessible than the stars of any other sport. Yet, NASCAR fans draw back to the days of old when drivers were even more available.

Joey Logano comments on fan access

“Our fans are spoiled,” Joey Logano stated via Sirius XM NASCAR Radio.

“And I love our race fans. But, think about other sports for a second. When Are you going to meet an NFL player?”

“Can you access an NFl player? Nope. Anytime, like 3 hours before a game, no!”

“But, you can meet me, 20 minutes, 5 minutes before I get in the race car. You can take a picture with me. I am there.”

“All the other racers, it’s the same thing. We walk down a red carpet and there is people on both sides of us.”

“We all stop and sign autographs. It’s hard to get everybody but you try your hardest to. That is the norm, in our sport.”

“That doesn’t happen in any other sport. At all. So, to say we’re not accessible, is wrong. That is not the case at all. We are very accessible.”

“To say the racecar drivers are staying in the motorhome home. I don’t know, the racecar drivers that I know, they are normal folk.”

“I mean, there’s a couple of them that maybe live a little bigger lifestyles than others. But, the majority of them are normal racers.”

“And, they’re really not any different than the racer that’s racing on Saturday night. They’ve just been doing it on a little bit bigger stage and yeah, they might have made a little bit more money. But, they’re still racers at heart.”

Logano is the 2009 rookie of the year. He claimed the NASCAR Cup Series title in 2018.
