Joe Gibbs Racing completes 2024 driver lineup

Joe Gibbs Racing has officially announced their 2024 NASCAR Xfinity Series lineup for 2024. JGR will field four cars full-time. Two drivers will run the full schedule while six more run a part-time schedule.

Sheldon Creed is set to pilot the No. 18 car full-time. The No. 81 will also run full-time with Chandler Smith as the pilot.

Aric Almirola and John Hunter Nemechek will share No. 20 entry. The No. 19 entry will be raced by Ryan Truex, William Sawalich, Joe Graf Jr. and Taylor Gray.

Sheldon Creed is making the move from Richard Childress Racing to JGR. He claimed the 2020 NASCAR Truck Series championship.

Chandler Smith moves to JGR after his rookie season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Aric Almirola previously drove for the team in 2007. He returns to the team after retiring from full-time competition in the NASCAR Cup Series.

“Over the last couple of months, we’ve been working diligently to put together our 2024 Xfinity program which will include the addition of a fourth team,” said Steve DeSouza, EVP NASCAR Xfinity Series/Development at JGR.

“Our 2024 roster has a great balance of experience, youth, wisdom, and talent. We believe the veteran drivers will continually benchmark our program, compliment, and challenge each other, as well as assist our younger drivers to further develop their skill set.”

“We are also excited about our crew chiefs and the teams they have assembled. We take a lot of pride in not only our program’s on-track success, but also in the opportunity to develop and promote our team members.”

Xfinity Series: Crew chiefs

Tyler Allen, Seth Chavka and Sam McAulay all join the team as first-time crew chiefs. All three previously worked on the engineering side of JGR’s NASCAR Cup Series operation.

ARCA Menards Series

Joe Gibbs Racing will continue to field a car in the ARCA Menards Series. Matt Ross will serve as the crew chief.

William Sawalich claimed the ARCA Menards Series East title with the team in 2023. He’ll return in 2024.

However, 17-year-old Sawalich does not meet age requirements at select tracks. In those events, Tanner Gray will fill the seat.
