Stage 1 – Report
Laps: 20 (1-20 / 75)
Green flag, Gibbs gets the jump as Larson spins the tires. Tyler Reddick takes over 2nd.
Lap 4, the track is drying and the cars on wet tires are dropping through the field. Clouds still rest overhead.
Lap 12, Shane van Gisbergen has closed to the bumper of Gibbs in the battle for the lead. Gibbs struggles with lap traffic and van Gisbergen works to the inside! They run doors and van Gisbergen takes the lead.
Lap 17, Corey LaJoie spins on his own in turn four and the caution is out.
The rain is here and the track is soaked.
Shane van Gisbergen wins stage one under yellow on the Chicago Street Course!

Stage 2 – Report
Laps: 25 (21-45 / 75)
The field dives to the pit lane for wet weather tires. Christopher Bell wins the race to the pit exit. Zane Smith is the only car to stay out as he already had wet tires installed.
Green flag on stage two, Bell slides at the launch. Gibbs dives inside of Smith into turn one. Ty Gibbs returns to the lead. Alex Bowman turns Bubba Wallace from inside the top 5, no caution.
Lap 25, Chase Briscoe spins under braking into turn 6. He catches the bumper of Shane van Gisbergen and sends him hard into the concrete wall. Shane van Gisbergen is done for the day. Briscoe slams the tire barrier, caution.
Red flag
NASCAR has thrown the red flag due to puddles on the track.
After a several hour delay, the race is set to resume…
Green flag, Gibbs leads Bell and Larson into turn one. Bell looks inside of Gibbs into turn 6, Bell takes the lead away. Behind them, Denny Hamlin locks up under braking and he slides into Ricky Stenhouse Jr as both cars find the tire barrier, no caution.
Lap 34, Kyle Larson locks up under braking into turn six! He slides hard into the tire barrier and the caution is out.

Green, Bell leads Gibbs and Reddick into turn one.
Lap 38, Josh Berry slams the turn four tire barrier, no caution.
Lap 43, many cars dive for the pit lane. They’re going for slick tires but the track is still damp. Chase Elliott, Kyle Busch, Austin Dillon and others make this call.
Lap 44, Bell pits from the lead and Gibbs follows. Many of the leaders head to the pits for slicks. Austin Dillon locks up into turn 6 and he finds the tire barrier, no caution.
Joey Hand stays out and picks up the stage two win in Chicago!

This is now a timed race as the sun is going down. Only about 20 minutes are remaining in the race, regardless of the lap counter.
Joey Hand stays out as Bell restarts 13th. Bell is the first car in the running order on slicks tires.
Green flag on stage three, Hand leads Bowman into turn one.
13 minutes remain, AJ Allmendinger is in the turn 12 tire barrier, no caution.
12 minutes remain, Bowman dives inside of Hand into turn 5. Bowman to the lead!
11 minutes remain, Josh Berry slams the tire barrier, caution.
Green, Bowman leads Hand into turn one. Chase Briscoe finds the turn one tire barrier behind them, no caution.
3 minutes remain, Bell is up 7th.
2 minutes remain, Stenhouse Jr tags the bumper of Truex Jr. Truex Jr slides across the track and he hooks Bell into the wall! No caution as Bell falls to 10th.
1 minute remains, Reddick is flying through the field.
1 lap to go, Reddick is closing fast on Bowman!
Reddick tags the inside wall in turn five! He loses ground.
