Now, year’s later, series officials are finally looking into an increase and that could come this season. NASCAR recently held meetings with team owners and drivers.
NASCAR says they are looking to increase the power to 750 on short tracks. That’s a fairly large increase as NASCAR currently has a 650-670hp package for short tracks.
NASCAR confirms they are looking into increasing HP
“It was something we proactively brought up to have a further discussion of improving the short-track package,” NASCAR managing director of communications Mike Forde said via Hauler Talk.
“Obviously the drivers all embraced that topic and requested more and more horsepower. So we said, ‘You got it. We’ll look into it.’ “
He added, “We are working with engine builders on that, and we’ll see if this is something that’s put into place this season.”
NASCAR has about 2 months before the next scheduled short track event.
