INDYCAR shatters TV ratings with Washington, D.C. race

Usually, this is a NASCAR headline but INDYCAR has snatched the top spot

Over the weekend, INDYCAR raced on the streets of Washington, D.C. It marked the first and possibly the last Freedom 250.

3.282M viewers tuned in on average during Sunday’s INDYCAR race. That makes it the most-watched non-Indy 500 race since at least 2008.

Meanwhile, Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race was seen by 2 million viewers after the rain delay. Before the rain delay, the average drops to 1.793 million per a report from Adam Stern.

INDYCAR viewership on FOX is up 32% on the year so far for all races. The network is now averaging 1.875M viewers per race. 2025 brought an average of 1.416M and 2024 brought 1.10M.
