NASCAR fan hit by exploding brake rotor in Nashville

Ross Chastain is seeking out the fan that was struck by a piece of molten rotor

On Sunday, the NASCAR Cup Series raced at Nashville Superspeedway in Tennessee. During the race, multiple teams suffered from brake related issues.

For Ross Chastain, he blew out a brake rotor, causing him to slam the wall. Apparently, a piece of that rotor went through the catchfence and struck a fan.

This was an extremely dangerous situation. For reference, NASCAR brake rotors can reach up to 1,200 degrees.

According to Chastain, that person was taken to the care center for stitches…

Ross Chastain says the fan needed medical attention

“MY brake rotor exploded. A kid got hit with a piece and had to go get some stiches,” Ross Chastain stated.

“So, we’re reaching out to them now. We’re trying to find him. But, we’re going to get a hold of him and see if he’s okay. And send him some stuff. Sign some stuff.”

“The word was that he went, got stitches and came back and watched the end of the race. So, that’s what I was told. So, we’re trying to find him.”

“That’s crazy. Think about getting hit with a piece of brake rotor from a race car.”

Fan on Reddit claims they were the group struck

@Noah_Patterson on Reddit stated that they were the group involved. He also gave a medical update:

“Looking back it’s ironic that we took this picture hours before she got hit with Chastain’s brake rotor. We would love to get a hold of Ross or his team if at all possible. We are also trying to find a way to get the rotor piece displayed so we can get it signed.”

“He also mentioned in his podcast he’s looking for the kid who needed stitches. I know the medical team at the track took down all our info so hopefully they can help.”

“Also just wanted to say she’s doing good! Still some pretty good blistering on a couple of her fingers but it was something we can look back and talk about. We may sit a little higher up next race we go to (she’s scared of Daytona and Talladega now tho)”

“UPDATE: We got hold of Ross’s team! Thank you guys for the help. Everyone enjoy Michigan!”

This weekend, the NASCAR Cup Series is back in action at the 2-mile of Michigan International Speedway.
