NASCAR All-Star Race Results: May 22, 2022 (Texas Motor Speedway)

$1,000,000 to win at Texas Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Cup Series

Tonight, the NASCAR Cup Series takes on an exhibition event. Texas Motor Speedway is set to host the NASCAR All-Star Race paying $1,000,000 to the race winner.

Format
The winner from stage one will start from the pole in stage three. The winner from stage two will complete the front row for the final stage while the stage three winner starts 3rd. Additionally, there’s a mandatory four tire stop between stage two and three, that car will start fourth in the final stage.

Laps: 25

Green flag, Kyle Busch is clear into turn one.

Lap 15, Daniel Suarez transferred in from the Open race and started at the tail. He’s up to 14th.

Stage 2 – Report

Laps: 25

The top three stay out with others. Byron is the first to pit, he was running 4th. Harvick’s crew has lifted the hood.

Green flag on stage two, Busch is clear into turn one. Blaney runs wide and he drops from 2nd to 6th.

Lap 29, Bubba Wallace heads for the pit lane under green with a loose wheel.

Lap 37, Kyle Larson has a flat right front. He slams the wall in turn four and slides through the infield grass. The caution is out and Larson is done for the night.

Green, Kyle Busch and Ross Chastain run even into turn one. Chastain noses ahead on the outside into turn three. Busch fights back on the inside lane and holds the lead as they return to turn one.

3 to go in stage two, Kyle Busch has a flat tire! He slows and Ross Chastain drives right into the back of him! Suarez and Elliott are collected and the red flag is out. Chastain was going 180mph as Kyle Busch was running just 120mph.

Stage 2 goes into overtime, Austin Cindric is clear into turn one. Ryan Blaney builds momentum around the outside and climbs to his right rear off turn two. Cindric drives it deep to the inside in turn three to take the lead.

Stage 3 – Report

Laps: 25

The entire field hits the pit lane for a mandatory four tire stop. The fastest stop will restart in 4th for stage four.

Pit Stop Challenge ($100,000 to win) : Slow stop for Cindric. Byron wins the race to the pit exit. Joey Logano wins the pit stop challenge, the No. 22 team wins $100,000 for that stop.

Green flag on stage three, Byron is clear into turn one with a push from Suarez. Blaney works the outside lane to take 2nd away off turn two.

Lap 33, Blaney has a run on Byron. He dives to the inside in turn three and takes the lead away.

8 to go in stage three, Ricky Stenhouse Jr has a flat tire. No caution, he heads for the pits under green.

5 to go in three three, Christopher Bell is in the wall off turn four while he was running 2nd. The caution is out.

Blaney stays out with Logano and Cindric as Byron pits from 2nd. Suarez wins the race to the pit exit.

Green flag in stage three overtime, Blaney is clear by multiple car lengths in turn one.

Blaney, Cindric and Logano head for the pit lane. Cindric will restart in 1st, Blaney in 2nd, Logano in 3rd and Suarez in 4th.

Green flag in stage four, Cindric and Blaney run side by side into turn one. Blaney clears him via the outside lane!

34 to go, Bubba Wallace slows with a flat tire. He pits under green.

28 to go, Erik Jones is in the wall off turn four. The caution is out.

The top 4 stay out. Hamlin is the first car to pit from 4th.

Green, Blaney clears Cindric on the inside into turn one.

19 to go, Hamlin looks inside of Suarez for 3rd. Suarez pinches him down into turn the corner but Hamlin clears him anyway. Hamlin put on 2 new right side tires on the last caution, he’s on the charge.

14 to go, Hamlin works inside of Cindric into turn three. He side drafts and complete the pass.

12 to go, Blaney leads Hamlin by 2 seconds.

5 to go, Blaney opens the gap.

1 to go, Ricky Stenhouse Jr is in the wall and the caution is out! This race isn’t over!

Ryan Blaney thought he won and already took the window net down. He can’t reattach the window net! He unplugs the backside of the net and just plugs the front latch, NASCAR is going to let it go.

Green, Cindric pushes Blaney into turn one. Hamlin has a run off turn two on the outside, Blaney shuts the door!
