Tarheel 50 headlines action-packed Tri-County Race Track 2018 schedule

BRASSTOWN, NC —Track Promoter Ray Cook and the Tri-County Race Track located in Brasstown, N.C. have released the schedule of events for the 2018 racing season. The 15th Annual Tarheel 50 will be the largest paying event in the storied track’s history paying $10,000-to-win on Friday Night September 28th.

The season will officially kick-off with an open practice session on Friday evening March 9th from 6:00 until 9:30 pm.

The Super Late Models will see three major events. The Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV will visit Tri-County Race Track on Friday March 16th for the Season Opener paying $3,000-to-win. On March 16th the Mod Lites will make their first appearance to Tri-County. The series will again visit on Monday May 28th for the Eighth Annual Memorial Day Championships paying $3,000-to-win and a big Fireworks show will light up the night sky. The final stop of the series to Tri-County will be on Friday Night September 28th for the 15th Annual Tarheel 50, which will pay $10,000-to-win.

The Crate Late Models will have their Championship race on Monday September 3rd during the Seventh annual Labor Day Championship paying $2,000-to-win featuring Faster Pastor races and Fireworks. The Independence Day Championship race featuring a Huge Fireworks show will be on Monday Night July 2nd with the Southeastern Sportsman Limited Late Models racing for $1,500-to-win.

The Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series will make their first-ever visit on Friday May 11th paying $1,553-to-win. This will mark the first time the Open Wheels have ever raced at the Western North Carolina oval.

The Fifth Annual Pony/Street Stock Summer Shootout will take place on Friday Night June 22nd paying $600-to-win plus a full racing program.

The Blue Ridge Outlaw Late Models will make two appearances to Tri-County Race Track on Friday May 11th and Friday August 24th paying $1,800-to-win each visit. The 602 Thunder Series will make two stops to Tri-County Race Track on Friday June 8th and Friday August 10th paying $1,200-to-win each visit.

On Friday Night August 10th the Eighth Annual ever-popular Back-to-School Nickel Night for the kids will take place along with a full racing program for all divisions. Fan Appreciation will take place on Friday July 13th with $7.00 general admission with a full racing program.

During each special event at Tri-County in 2018, it will also be a full racing program for the other divisions with other special events to be announced.

In addition to the action-packed stock car program at Tri-County, the Go-Karts will return to action as the track will host the Sixth Annual Tarheel Nationals on Saturday September 15th. The Tough Trucks and Demolition Derby will take place on November 2 and 3 with other events that weekend TBA.
