The NASCAR champion has goals to win dirt racing championships while still in his prime
Kyle Larson is the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion. He currently races for Hendrick Motorsports, a team Larson calls, “the best team in NASCAR.”
Hear from Kyle Larson below.
Larson is only 31. But, he’s set to begin his 11th season of NASCAR Cup Series competition.
Most elite drivers can race in the NASCAR Cup Series into their 40’s. Kevin Harvick retired at the end of the last season at age 48.
For Kyle Larson, that’s not his plan. He has other aspirations, outside of NASCAR. One of those includes a championship within his own High Limit Racing Series.
“I don’t see myself going to 40,” Kyle Larson told Kenny Wallace of retirement from NASCAR.
“But, that’s not me retiring from racing. A lot of these drivers, I don’t think they meant to be done at 42, I think they kinda got pushed out of the sport a little bit with young drivers coming up that could be paid a lot less than what they’re making.”
“There’s a lot of stuff that I want to accomplish while I’m still in my prime. I’ve already been in it for a while. If I could race another 7-8 years, I can earn a lot of money and set myself up really well.”
“I could still be in my prime, hopefully and go compete for premier dirt series championships. High Limit has hopefully taken off by then. Go and try to win a championship there, go win a championship in whatever the big late model series is. Stuff like that, while I’m still young.”
“I’ve done it a long time. What’s important to me is being able to accomplish some big things while having the time to do it, down the road while I’m still close to my prime.”
