Alex Bowman tossed his phone in the pool when he heard NASCAR disqualified him and eliminated him from the playoffs; The phone then called 9-1-1

Alex Bowman disqualified after Charlotte; Eliminated from playoffs
When Bowman crossed the finish line, he was above the cutline and would advance into the next playoff round.
However, in post-race tech inspection, the No. 48 car was found light at the scales. By a large margin of 17 pounds.
NASCAR disqualified Bowman from the race, giving him a last-place result in the race. After the penalty, Bowman moved below the playoff cutline and was eliminated from the playoff battle.
Joey Logano, who was originally eliminated is now back in the 8-car playoff battle this weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Hendrick Motorsports elected not to appeal the penalty.

Alex Bowman says he tossed his phone when he found out; His phone then called 9-1-1
“Blake called me, wasn’t sure about things,” Alex Bowman told Bob Pockrass of how he found out about the penalty.
“The next thing I got was your tweet. I proceeded to throw my phone in the pool. My phone proceeded to call 9-1-1 and tell them I was in a car crash.”
“So, my Sunday night wasn’t very good.”
“It’s just part of the deal. We win and lose as a team. Unfortunately, in that situation, we did something wrong.”
As for the phone, “It hit the bottom of the pool and I walked away. 20 minutes late I’m like, ‘I should probably go get my phone.’ “
“iPhones are waterproof. I knew my phone was about to start blowing up. And I really didn’t want to see any of it at that point.”
“Luckily, your phone doesn’t have service from the bottom of the pool. So, nothing came of it but it tried.”
“I guess they have a new thing where they like report that you’ve been in a car crash if the phone feels something. I guess you could write that I did it out of rage but really I didn’t want to see my phone anymore.”
So, if you’re ever in a crash crash, try to avoid the lakes.
