On Sunday, NHRA hosted their season finale. The event took place in Pomona, California at the In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragstrip.
During the event, a place crashed into the facility. It appeared to land in an RV lot.
The roof of a Dodge pickup truck was ripped off as the plane crashed to the ground. It came to a rest next to several campers.
The plane was a Piper PA-32 300 Cherokee Six (N617ET). Four passengers were in the plane during the crash.
All four passengers have survived. They suffered minor to moderate non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident caused a 1 hour and 50 minute delay in the drag racing action.
The plane was en route to the Brackett Airport.
NHRA Statement
NHRA issued the following statement:
“Today, a small single-engine airplane crashed at the Pomona Fairplex,” NHRA opened in a statement.
“The pilot and three occupants of the aircraft all suffered minor to moderate non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated at a nearby hospital. The NHRA has been working closely with the Pomona Police Department and L.A. County Fire Department and has been guided to continue racing.”
