Brad Sweet placed on a stretcher after Eldora crash (Video)

Brad Sweet was involved in a heavy crash during the King’s Royal at Eldora Speedway

Tonight, World of Outlaws drivers are racing in Rossburg, Ohio. The half-mile dirt track of Eldora Speedway is hosting the famed King’s Royal paying $200,000 to the winner.

Brad Sweet opened the night qualifying 7th of the 53 drivers.

On lap four of the first heat race in Saturday’s finale, Sweet jumped the cushion and tagged the outside wall. He flipped down the banking.

Cale Thomas came into the scene with nowhere to go. He drove right into the side of Sweet’s No. 49 car.

The red flag was thrown and the safety team was there in seconds. Both drivers got out of their cars. However, Sweet was placed on a stretcher, lifted into the ambulance and taken to the infield medical center.

The World of Outlaws added, “Both have been helped from their cars and are communicating with safety personnel as they are seen for further evaluation.”

Sprint cars have been racing at Eldora since Wednesday night. We’ve seen a string of big crashes along the way.

On Thursday, Tyler Courtney hit the wall, wing first. He was transported to a local hospital and has since gone into surgery. Aaron Reutzel was also injured on Friday night.

Update

After evaluation at the infield care center on the infield of Eldora Speedway, Brad Sweet has been transported to a local hospital.

The World of Outlaws confirmed, “Brad Sweet has been transported for further evaluation.”

Medical Update: July 20

On Sunday, Kasey Kahne Racing stated, “Scans have came back clean.”

Brad Sweet himself stated, “Sore and beat up but I’ve been discharged”

Update: July 21

On Tuesday, High Limit Racing is racing at Lernerville Speedway. Brad Sweet will not be racing. He has been granted a medical provisional.

Kasey Kahne Racing stated, “We are wishing smooth and speedy recoveries to everyone. The Big Cat will be back soon!”
