Race Report
Green flag, Herta gets the jump and he’s clear before turn one. Armstrong dives inside of Palou to take 2nd away.
Lap 2, Pato O’Ward, Marcus Ericsson and Scott McLaughlin head for the pit lane to switch to the hard tire.
Lap 3, McLaughlin has lost a wheel just moments after the pit stop! He’s in the wall and the caution is out.
Herta leads most of the field to the pit lane. They’re all in a rush to remove the soft tire. Herta restarts 17th. Alex Palou stays out and takes over the front row.
Green, Palou leads VeeKay.
Lap 14, Santino Ferrucci spins and clips the wall. The caution is out.
Green, Palou leads Foster. David Malukas takes 2nd away.
Lap 30
Lap 30, Alexander Rossi tags the wall and picks up a flat tire. Debris is all over the track and the caution is out.
Palou and Dixon stay out as most of the field heads for the pit lane. Kyle Kirkwood is spun on the pit lane with rear damage.
Green, Louis Foster and Jacob Abel bang wheels out of turn one. Abel is nose first into the wall. Newgarden drives right under him. The caution is out as Abel is parked on top of Newgarden.
Palou and Daxon head to the pit lane. Rinus VeeKay is handed the lead.
Green, VeeKay leads Simpson and Daly. Will Power is in the wall after banging wheels.
Lap 45, Pato O’Ward dives inside of Simpson into turn one. O’Ward to 2nd.
Lap 55, Palou pits once again. He goes to the hard tire and this could be his final stop.
Lap 57, VeeKay pits from the lead. A lap later, O’Ward pits from the lead and he cycles out ahead of VeeKay.
Lap 63
Lap 63, O’Ward cycles to the race lead. VeeKay trails by 1.5 seconds.
15 to go, O’Ward leads VeeKay by 3 seconds.
10 to go, Malukas and Lundgaard bang wheels in a battle for 10th.
3 to go, Felix Rosenqvist and Nolan Siegel tangle and the caution is out.
