Carson Hocevar doesn’t know how to play the game per Harvick

The weekly drama continues as Carson Hocevar spun out Brad Keselowski at Darlington Raceway with no apologies

On Sunday, Carson Hocevar went up the track to catch Brad Keselowski in the left rear and spin him out. And, after the race, all Hocevar had to say was, “Looks like he spun.”

On the other side, Keselowski isn’t happy. And he promised that Hocevar has one coming.

This is nothing new for NASCAR.

Every few years you get some new drivers that cause chaos. Logano, Chastain and now Hocevar. At this point, the entire garage owes one to Hocevar.

In the past, Logano lost a championship over this very thing. Matt Kenseth wasn’t happy with what Logano said after an incident on the track. Weeks later, Kenseth then famously crashed Logano from the race lead in retaliation at Martinsville Speedway. “He junked him,” as Tony Stewart said.

But so far, Hocevar is rolling with it, no apologies.

And, he’s selling t-shirts at a 29% discount, 23 percent for the finish and another 6 to match Keselowski’s number. Now, he’s leading the NASCAR merchandise sales.

Kevin Harvick says without respect of peers, you can get run out of NASCAR Cup racing

“It’s an interesting soundbite just because of the disrespect that comes with it,” Kevin Harvick stated via the Happy Hour podcast.

“It’s one thing to play the game. But, if you’re going to really know how to play the game, which he doesn’t know how to play the game. Right now, he’s worried about selling t-shirts and all the things that go with it.”

“You have to be respected by the guys you’re racing against. Right now, there’s not one guy in the garage that respects what he does behind the wheel.”

“A lot of it is just because of that right there. That would have been a really easy scenario to say, ‘I got up the racetrack, was sliding up the racetrack and got into the back of Brad. That one’s on me.’ “

“That’s going to be more respected than being a just complete (expletive) about it. Almost like you’re trying to put on a show.”

Hocevar reacts to Kyle Larson saying he’s like an 8-year-old

“You can still sell all the t-shirts and do all the things that you do by being good. And you can still have a personality.”

“At some point, you have to earn the respect of your peers if you want to be successful in Cup racing. Otherwise, you’re going to be run out of it.”

Harvick concluded, “If you really want to play the game you gotta know how to play the whole game.”

Hocevar has taken criticism from all sides since the incident. Denny Hamlin blamed the team for allowing it. Dale Earnhardt Jr said he wouldn’t be allowed to do that in his cars. Harvick is just the latest.
