The famed California short track has set the date for it’s last race
Irwindale Speedway is an iconic 1/2-mile asphalt short track in California. The complex also features a 1/3-mile oval as well as a dragstrip.
The track is located on the outskirts of Los Angeles. It opened 25 years ago in 1999.
In the past, the track has escaped the bulldozers following several closures. However, this one feels different.
The track has a set a date for their final race on December 21, 2024. They’ve also moved many of the events that were previously run at Irwindale to Kern County Raceway in anticipation of track closure for the 2025 season.
The the finale on December 21, the track stated, “Fans can expect a full day of NASCAR short-track races, wild Night of Destruction events like Figure-8s and Trailer Races, a high-octane Drift Invitational, and the prestigious ARCA Menards Series West. This historic event will be Irwindale’s biggest and most thrilling celebration yet, a fitting tribute to the legacy of a track that has defined West Coast racing for 25 years.”
